How Can I Get Mad?

The case of the missing shoes was finally solved.  Not by me, nor by Napoleon, owner of said shoes.  But by his father.

There's a closet we have in the hall.  A hall closet, if you will.  A typical hall closet containing coats, Christmas wrapping paper and my old dolls.  The kind of closet you open up in the late fall to get the winter coats out and you close the door.  You open the closet door again in the spring to put the winter coats away and then you shut the door.

We don't hang our winter coats up in the coat closet during wintertime.  You've met us, right?  We're more of your toss-it-on-the-floor-type of family.  It's really too much effort to open up a door everytime you want your coat.  And if that's too much effort, imagine how we feel about hanging a coat up after having to open the door.  Whew, it exhausts me just thinking about that nonsense.

And of course, I open the closet door to get out the Christmas wrap and then shut the door when the wrapping is done.  So I'd say I potentially look in that closet 4-7 minutes per year.  And that might be pushing it.

What I didn't factor into my widespread shoe hunt was that Andrew might have cause to open the closet door.  It's a little game he likes to call Run Away From Paul that eventually turns into Hide From Paul.  Why he chose that moment in the hall closet to take his shoes off can be chalked up to "I dunno" and why he didn't remember doing such a thing can also be chalked up to "I dunno."

All I do know is that I was not on the premises when I got a call from my beloved asking what color Andy's missing shoes were.  I described them and he said where he found them.  I asked why on earth he was in the hall closet because he has less reason to be in there than I do, since he doesn't wrap Christmas presents.

He was looking for one of Paul's stuffed doggies for bedtime.  And apparently, Kevin doesn't live under the theory that no one would enter the hall closet.  Hence, why he found the shoes and not me.  And actually, it didn't irritate me that he found them.  Really.

And yes, I could get all huffy and mad, but then pull the photos off my camera and I just melt.
