Project 365 (kristin style)

Through my friends who are real people and fellow bloggers, I have run across some fun stuff now and then. Amy is a scrapbook queen who makes me insanely jealous but I visit her blog each day because I guess I need to feel bad about my lack of scrapbooking (or even photo albums) for my boys. Through her, I found Project 365.

If I understand Project 365 correctly, the idea is to document one thing a day, be it an experience, a moment, a person, just whatever, so that in the end, you have an entire year of memories. She encourages you to let each family member particpate in picking a day's memory, so as to have a true family album. I like this a lot, but I can see me getting to the point of going "Oh crap, I haven't done anything in 6 days, so here, um, let me take 6 photos really quick and then I'll just pretend that each came from a different day."
It's good to know these qualities about yourself so you don't start a project like this and then end up feeling bad constantly.

Amy's snippet of Project 365 referenced another blog in which one photo claimed to be evidence that someone lived in your house (go see Amy's evidence). So in honor of Project 365 and what it stands for (because I do think that's awesome): here is my evidence:

Let me explain:

1. The cake Rachel made last night in honor of Valentine's Day.
2. Halloween's suckers which are the only candy that Andrew will eat, although obviously not very fast.
3. Stuffed Eyeore that is one of Daisy and Paul's favorite tug of war toys.
4. Daisy's leash.
5. Kevin's coat, which he insists on draping on the kitchen chairs even though he knows darn well it will fall on the floor and get stomped on and used as a napping spot for the dog.
6. Kevin's woobie. It's a pink pillowcase that formally belonged to Rachel until Kevin discovered its magical powers of reassurance (he twists and folds the fabric into pointed ends).
7. Paul's pajama bottoms.
8. Kevin's Diet Pepsi cans. And yes, in case you were wondering, we do have a trash can (and a laundry room, and coat hooks, and various other tools of the organization trade).
9. The tub of Halloween candy that Rachel and Andy fought over two nights ago, ending with him shaking in tearful anger and her yelling "fine, take the Spiderman candy, I don't care."
10. My fountain soda Coke that Paul has become addicted to. "Dwink?"
11. My purse, taking the precarious chance of sitting on the bench for all to knock over.

And there you have it.

And since I'm shoving Amy in your face today, let me quote her from a couple months ago..."take that FlyLady."

FlyLady (actually introduced to me by Dayna) has this idea that if you can just keep your kitchen sink totally spotless, you will feel good about yourself and the good feeling will spread to the counters and cabinets and floors. HA! I gave that about 2 days and realized I could care less if the sink is clean. It's a sink, for crying out loud. BUT, because I'm an open-minded person, I did consider what would make me get that good feeling and it's actually the kitchen table. Despite today's appearance in the above photo, I have found that if my kitchen table is cleared off, I do want the rest of my kitchen to follow suit. So take that FlyLady.

  1. Kristin, I just love you. Charlie just told me mommy stop laughing with your computer friend and talk to me. I LOVE your evidence. I too am not good at one picture a day so my 365 may end up being 268 instead. :)
