Pride
Rachel got her black bead in French today. The French teacher has had them conjegating verbs all year and when you've memorized a certain amount, you take a "Verb Karate" test and if you pass, you earn a colored bead to add to the chain around your neck. Today was the final test and the black bead was earned. Go Rachel! And to make it all the sweeter, she claims that everyone else cheats a bit, but she never did.
The first bead she earned was white. It's not on the chain because the chain broke early on and Daisy ate the white bead. And Rachel was too much of a pansy to look through dog excrement to get her white bead back. Heh heh - would it even have been white anymore?
A Sigh
Paul's phrases are coming in full force now. "I wike dat" and "I twy dat?" and "put in mouf" and "I wike my daddy" and "go geh Anny" (go get Andy...from school). But by far, his most favorite phrase is "Sid dow Mah-ee, sid dow." Sit down Mommy. Don't get up, don't do dishes, don't do laundry, don't play on the computer, don't do anything but sit down. Now.
Andyism
"It was kind of like lunch detention but we weren't in trouble."
Andy's teachers had written a comment in his folder about how proud they were of Andy, who was a good friend for sitting with a classmate who is allergic to eggs and had to sit alone at lunch the other day. I read it outloud to Kevin in front of Andy, so we could praise him for his good deed. He shrugged his shoulders and offered the above commentary.
Oh Andy, you so make me laugh! And just b/c I never had Rachel in class doesn't mean I can't also be proud of her! Go Rachel!
ReplyDeleteIs Rachel going to be a French pastry chef? Cadeaus to you, Rachel. Granny is proud of you! Andy shines too, doesn't he? More grandmother pride. My favorite phrase of Paul's came the evening I stayed with them ane he woke up when Kevin came thru the door. He looked at me and the light came on in his eyes and said "I see Daddy?", then "I see Daddy!!" This is great stuff.
