Chicken Soup for the Psychotic Soul

Oh, do let me outline the past couple days for you. Just in case anyone wants to send a cheesecake over or at least a Hallmark card.

1. It's baseball season. So Kevin's out of commission. Last night he was in Stillwater overnight, so even better (as you read on).

2. Rachel managed to rack up $197 worth of media charges on her cell phone. What on earth did she get? I thought that surely she had at least downloaded a movie or a couple tv shows for that price. No. One 20 dollar charge was for accessing Google to look up movie theaters when she and her friend were 4-wheeling. One 74 dollar charge was for the downloading of a song (yes, you read that right, a song) via Google and the net. One 96 dollar charge was for the downloading of another song (yes, you read that right again), again via Google and the net. Obviously, she doesn't have a data plan. And she was told not to go on the internet for that very reason. So now, $197 later, Rachel's phone has been cut off because some of us don't have that kind of money.

3. Upper respiratory infections are running amok in my house. Well, amok among me, Kevin and Paul. Rachel and Andy seem impervious to this strain of virus. Remember my post on viruses, right? It's a wait-and-see-because-antibiotics-just-don't-d0-squat game. So the three of us have been battling congestion and cough for a good 3 weeks now and I figured I needed to haul Paul in just to check out his breathing. Oh goodie, he's wheezing. Oh goodie, the breathing treatment in the doctor's office didn't help much. Oh goodie, now we get to go for x-rays. Oh goodie, who is picking up the other kids? Paul actually sat through the x-ray better than last time, and the good news is - it's not pneumonia...yet. Yet. Nice spot where his pneumonia a couple months ago had been but the radiologist felt it wasn't quite pneumonia. Yet.

4. I called in sick last night so I wouldn't have to teach. I would have been better off going in, because Paul was in jungle-gym mode and I was the jungle gym. And there's nothing better when you're feeling ill than to have a toddler poke all his elbows and knees into every part of your body.

You're thinking I'm done, right? You're hoping I'm done, right? HA!

5. Paul began puking at 11:45pm and didn't quit until 2. In the morning. The only good part here was that I had actually moved him off of Andy before I went to bed, so he didn't throw up on Andy. But Andy did grace me with his presence that whole time too, since we were up and watching tv. He was okay with staying up and watching DragonTales. Remember what I said in #1 about Kevin being gone all night last night? Oh yeah. Good times. Boys' room smelled awful, our room smelled awful, I don't do puke in the middle of the night so all puke stained clothes and sheets go directly into the garage for morning fun. Oh yes, by the way, all the Power Rangers got splattered too!

6. All of my kids are home from school because Kevin's not here and I'm not putting PukaPaul into the car. I've had it up to my eyelashes with puke and having to clean out my car too just doesn't appeal to me. So I get to spend the day with all 3 kids.

7. And the AT&T man, who's here to install our U-Verse, which means I'm about to get cut off here in a minute. But one final thought...

8. There have been a rash of break-ins in the neighborhood across from us over the past 3 days. All during the day and all done by kicking in the front door or side door. I think the total as of last night was 8 or 9 break-ins. I just dare those idiots to kick my door in today - I'm saving one chunky sheet of puke for them.

  1. Oh, Baby. I am having this motherly urge to come running over there and sweeping you away to the cheesecake Factory and Cottonwood Spa for a couple days. I'm soooo sorry. If I didn't feel like **** myself,...well, you know the drill. I hope the chunky sheets and stuff are all plastic bagged, so they can be REALLY ripe if and when the local renegades show up. If they don't, just toss the stuff and start over. And Rachel?? Well, you've said it all.
