A Mother's Dilemma

Paul and Andy now both have twin size beds. Side by side, like a king-size bed, they take up most of the boys' room. Which works out fine actually, The bedtime routine has been that I take my trusty laptop in with them until they are both asleep. It's my time, so I'm okay with it.

Here during Christmas break, though, we allow Andy to stay up later. But because Paul's no dummy (he got a tee shirt for Christmas that says "I wasn't born yesterday"), Andy pretends to go to bed with him. When I give Andy the signal, he rolls off the side and crawls out of the room, thus deceiving his baby brother.

Which he did about 5 minutes ago. And now, he, Rachel and 2 of Rachel's friends are in the kitchen area yelling, laughing and making way too much noise. Especially our quiet-as-a-mouse Andy. How long do you think before Paul puts 2 and 2 together and realizes that the voices he's hearing out there do not match up with the lump of covers supposedly sleeping next to him?

So here's my dilemma. Do I ride this out and hope Paul just falls asleep despite it all? If I get up to go yell at the kids, Paul will get up too. And then the whole process starts all over.

AND, what the blankety-blank is my husband doing out there? Watching football, but he knows I'm trying to get Paul to sleep. And yet, the yelling continues out there.

I think Paul's asleep now.

But the rest of the house is getting an earful in about 3 minutes. Say a prayer for them.
