Toothbrush Tragedy

Every once in a while, Kevin whines that I only care about our kids because I never blog about him. So this one's for Kevin.

My hubby is rather particular and finicky about all sorts of things, from his diet drinks to the pillowcase he carries around the house like Linus. In the picture above, you can see a brand new toothbrush still in the package. It's a specific toothbrush meant for Kevin's delicate gums. Anyway, on Friday I had scoured our bathroom from top to bottom and while cleaning the countertop, I had inadvertently tossed his toothbrush in the trash. Honestly, I just remember identifying my toothbrush, Andy's Batman toothbrush and a rogue toothbrush that Paul had confiscated from Rachel's bathroom a while back. And honestly, I thought I had tossed the rogue one. Then Kevin comes in before bedtime asking where his toothbrush was, and I confessed that I may have thrown it out.

He was flummoxed. It was as if I had told him the sun was now purple. It was also late and he wasn't about to head over to WalMart to get one. Or use the rogue toothbrush that Paul has put who knows where. So I pulled out a little Snoopy toothbrush meant for Paul (still in the package) and told him to deal with it. And he did. And this morning he brushed again with the tiny Snoopy toothbrush.

But he is still flummoxed. "How could you throw away my toothbrush?" I try to explain that there were a lot of things I threw away and I apparently wasn't paying attention. "But how could you throw away my toothbrush?" It's just not in his capacity to understand that kind of goofy mistakes, especially when it comes to his delicate gums.

Meet Mr. Sharpie's dad. Mr. Sharpie Sr.
