I've been telling Rachel and her friends for years and years that we moms are not in the dark, ever. And that there is this whole Mom Connection out there that they couldn't possibly understand, but that they should never, EVER doubt its existance.
If I don't know it now, I will find out. Bank on it.
Case in point: A little over 2 weeks ago, on a Thursday around lunchtime, I got a call from another mom, who's son was suspended for taking another kid's ADHD meds. Why was she calling me? Nope, not Rachel. But Rachel's "boyfriend" was also suspended, along with 2 other boys, for taking the meds, and also the ADHD-medicine-sharer. After hanging up with her, groaning about it with Kevin over the phone, I texted Rachel's phone that her guy was suspended and why. I figured she'd hear about it anyway and this way, she'd already know that I knew.
She heard from "boyfriend" after school, who texted her to say he'd had a crappy day. She replies "I heard you got suspended."
"Yup. How did you know already?" This is his question to her.
"My mom."
"HOW DID SHE FIND OUT ALREADY?"
I have told them and told them over and over. I know everything and if I don't, I sure will. I'm sure that was a slight little mishap that he would have liked me NOT to have known.
Side note: the school punished them, hopefully they learned their lessons, we'll find out in time. On my part, the "boyfriend" has been grounded from my house for a while. And that's how I put it to him too, "you're grounded."
